Historical Inspiration
The Goths were a Germanic people, probably originating from Scandinavia. They migrated down to the Mediterranean, and were instrumental in the fall of the Western Roman Empire. They later divided into two distinct tribes, the Visigoths, who became "Romanized" and continued to trade and provide military assistance to the Eastern Roman Empire, and the Ostrogoths, who joined the Huns.
This fibulae is fashioned after historical examples which were produced during the Migration period from 400-700 A.D.
