Creative Inspiration
In Ancient Greece, Queen Cassiopeia proclaimed that she was more beautiful than all of the sea nymphs. Her prideful boast angered the god Poseidon so much that he sent his sea dragon, Cetus, to destroy her kingdom.
After much anguish, an oracle was found who claimed the sea dragon could be placated but only with the sacrifice of the queen's daughter, Andromeda. So Cassiopeia chained her daughter to a cliff overlooking the ocean. The sea dragon came for her, but miraculously at the same moment, Perseus, who was returning from slaying the Gorgon Medusa, happened across the scene. He quickly attacked the sea dragon with his sword, striking the creature three times upon a weak spot in its scaly hide. The third blow struck true, and Perseus pierced the serpent's heart. With that blow, the mighty sea dragon Cetus fell dead.
