It is said that the Celtic goddess Cerridwen always had a wolf companion by her side. Inspired by her devotion to wolves, we created this buckle and tip, featuring two snarling wolf heads ready to devthe their prey!
Design Details
Despite its ferocious and terrifying reputation as a murderous creature, the wolf is actually a very intelligent and social animal, honorable and loyal to its pack. They are skilled hunters, cunning problem-solvers, and fearless warriors in battle.
The Celts believed the wolf to be a divine creature who ruled over the winter months, overseeing a period of death and purification, which the Celts believed to be necessary in order for the world to be reborn in the spring. The wolf was also a companion of Cerridwen, godddess of the Moon, and it was said the wolf would hunt down the sun and gobble it up so that the moon’s power could come forth.
Historically, elaborate belts were worn to demonstrate wealth. The longer the belt, the wealthier the owner. To further demonstrate one’s wealth, people would embellish them with decorative tips or strap ends. The Wolf Belt Tip is 1.25” wide and 1.75” tall. A pair of bendable tabs are cast on the back of the tip. To attach it to a belt, punch a pair of holes in your belt for the tabs to fit through, and then bend the tabs over with a hammer.
The Wolf Belt Buckle, Bear Tip, and Reversible Keeper are designed for a 1.5 ” (38 mm) belt, and are available in both bronze and silver. Each of the pieces are available for purchase individually or can save by purchasing them as a set.
Leather belts are temporarily unavailable.
